I would like to begin with announcing our upgraded Point of Sale System. We recently finished a major upgrade of the customer accountability system for the entire district. This simply means our head count system. All schools in the District now work off the same system. To mention a couple of the items now available are parents can access their child’s account on-line and pay-online anytime. So far the new system is working very well. It is a web-based program connected to a main server. To access your child’s account simply go to and set up your profile. You will need your child’s account number to finish the process. If your child does not know their number just call the kitchen and we can help. You also have the option to apply for free or reduced meals anytime. It is always good to at least apply to see if your family qualifies for free meals.

Our Farm to School program is doing very well. We are currently purchasing local organic foods from Windham Farm and Food. WFF distributes local organic foods from many farmers in our area. The quality is incredible. We purchase kale, apples, greens, spinach, and squash. I am constantly working local foods into our menus and recipes. I do plan on having a taste testing in the future for our High School kids during lunch. As we do at the Elementary School we are constantly introducing the kids to news menu choices and tastes they may have never tried before.

The Jr. Iron Chef Vermont teams here at the High School are already busy meeting once a week to come up with a recipe for this year’s competition in March. We are planning on entering 3 teams this year, two High School teams and a Middle School team. Remember last year we came home with two wins. The teams and coaches are working very hard to repeat last year’s success. I will keep everyone updated as time goes on.

We would like to invite our area senior citizens to the monthly luncheon on December 7th at noon here at Green Mt. We will be serving a nice baked ham lunch.

Happy Holidays to everyone!!
