I am the primary contact person at GMUHS for the Governor's Institutes Summer Programs. Please contact me or visit the GIV website at:
My name is Christa Valente. I am a native Vermonter, a 1996 graduate of Black River High School. After graduating I pursued my degree in Art & Education at Saint Michael's College in Winooski, Vermont.
I am the middle school art teacher and I also teach the digital arts classes here at GMUHS. I am also the Unified Arts department chair, Class of 2018 co-advisor and The Governor's Institutes of Vermont school contact. [Links to these are to the left of the screen]
My goal as an art teacher is to expose my students to as many art styles, mediums, opportunities, examples and ideas as possible in hopes that they find inspiration and passion. Art is a life long journey, a way for people to safely and creatively express ideas and feelings; a useful tool not only in art class but in other subject areas as well. What we teach and learn in the art room is also a skill set that they can continue to use outside of school throughout their whole life; problem solving, revising, perserverence, grit, adaptability and so on.
I enjoy working with your children please feel free to contact me through any method listed below!
