Students in the Green Mountain Opportunities Program have been awarded a $2,500 grant from Chester Academy. In addition, Casey Hodge, owner of Southern Vermont Hydroponics, has given them a matching grant. The money has been used to build a student run hydroponic garden in their classroom. The garden will produce a variety of fresh vegetables which will be used to supply the school cafeteria. Surplus produce will be sold at local farmer's markets and donated to the Chester Family Center. The garden is located in room C104 and is open to all interested students. Parents and community members are welcome to visit the garden and view its daily operation.
