Green Mt Union High is proud to that our High School Jr Iron Chef team the Green Mt. Cheftains was  invited to the Vermont State House to participate in a fun day of activities.  The  Cheftains recently came home from the Statewide competition winners in the Local Lively category.  This is to say the Team utilized at least 5 local ingredients in the recipe they prepared.   Every year after the competition 6 teams are chosen to prepare their recipe for Legislators in the State House Dining Room.
The team and their Coach Christine Anderson traveled to Montpelier on April 15th and had a great time. They had a tour of the State House, met with our local Representative Leigh Dakin joined the team for lunch.   They prepared their recipe and served legislators for lunch.  Everyone loved the Three Grain Vegetarian  Shepherd’s Pie.   Steve Pippin covered as Asst. coach since I was unable to attend.  Steve was a big help in assisting the team with set-up.   The team members are Kaitlin McCoy, Simone Martarano, Alexandria Pippin, and Chelsea Rose,  the Team is already talking about next year.
Thanks so much to our Coaches and to Green Mt High for all the hard work and support.

Sincerely,
Jack Carroll, Director Food and Nutritional Services
